How to pick an agent?
First, you should understand the differences between the various types of agents. There is a difference in where you buy your insurance. Many people do not realize that there are three primary sources for personal insurance: Captive Agents, who can sell you the products of one insurance company.
Example: Internet or telephone Insurance companies ONLY offer their insurance over the phone or internet. YOU pay them, they sell you what they want. Do NOT fool yourself, these phone people get paid on sales and commissions!
When you call them or logon ask yourself:
1. Are there other options to this policy that they are not talking about?
2. Are there ways to fill in the coverage GAPS with a option that does not cost a lot?
3. Do they even care? When I call back I will NEVER speak to the same person to make them accountable for ANY problem I might have
OPTION.. find yourself a INDEPENDENT agent. Someone who represents MANY different insurance companies. Find a MIDDLEMAN that can keep those nasty, greedy insurance companies from sticking you with a BIG problem and keep them honest.
